Breakfast, best meal of the day. Napoleon Bonaparte, Jane Austen, Sir Winston Churchill have amazing breakfast history. Beethoven was particularly fussy about his morning coffee, counting precisely 60 beans for each cup. Breaking your Fast

Toasted muffin, bacon, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce – every one’s a classic.

Speaking of ‘classic’ – Beethoven was particularly fussy about his morning coffee, counting out precisely 60 beans for each cup.For Jane Austen, arranging the family breakfast was her primary piece of housework at home with her mother and sister, Cassandra. Perhaps whilst creating Mr Darcy, this meal usually consisted of sweet pound cake, toast, and tea.A far cry from the later Full English Breakfast, which includes bacon, fried egg, sausage, mushrooms, baked beans, fried bread, grilled tomatoes, and accompanied with tea or coffee.

Red or Brown Sauces with that?

That would be, the 200g of Mediterranean tomatoes crammed into every 100g of rich, thick, award-winning Real Tomato Ketchup; or the rich date purée, black treacle and unique blend of Persian spices in our ‘grown-up’ Real Brown Sauce.Classically French – the Croque Madame. Madame, including the egg; Croque Monsieur is served without the egg.

Napoleon Bonaparte’s Breakfast at Fontainebleu consisted of boiled or poached eggs, chicken dressed with oil and onions, and lentils or beans. He finished his repast with a strong cup of coffee.

Probably needed it after that lot!Light & Healthy – Scrambled eggs over smashed avocado with a little Chilli Jam, or Red Onion Marmalade on toasted ciabatta … so unlike Winston’s.

Sir Winston Churchill’s Breakfast: Certainly NOT Light & Healthy – his breakfast would be consumed in bed, consisting of sausages and bacon, eggs and toast, orange juice and coffee.

He’d also often have a whiskey soda or glass of hock.

Whatever your best way to start the day – enjoy it more with Stokes!

Let's 'do brunch'

Bruncha very British thing, first recognised at the end of the 19th Century as a mid to late morning meal to revive Saturday night party-goers.

Welcome to Sweden’s answer to Breakfast Hash – Pynn i Patta. This dish literally translates a ‘small pieces in a pan’ and that’s just what it is. Lots of leftover bits and pieces from the fridge, cut into small, even cubes, and fried in a pan.

Our Pytt i Panna uses leftover roast lamb. It’s fun to cook and delicious to share with family & friends.

Try your own variation on the recipe – HERE.Kedgeree originated in India and became popular with British colonials across the globe.

It’s a classic brunch dish of  chunky flakes of smoked haddock, boiled turmeric-yellow rice, mild curry powder (or Garam Masala), chopped parsley, and boiled eggs.

To make it extra special, add a final fruity touch with a spoon or two of our Spiced Mango Chutney, with its mango pieces and an aromatic blend of spices – definitely one for the Chutney connoisseur.Shakshuka – or in this case, Bloody Mary Baked Eggs.

Shakshuka is a popular dish across North Africa. Eggs are poached in a rich sauce of tomatoes, peppers, onion and garlic, spiced with paprika, cumin and cayenne chilli.

Instead of these spices, simply make the sauce rich and tasty with Real Tomato Ketchup and Habanero HOT Sauce.

Or, in the case of Andy’s Recipe – HERE – use our Bloody Mary Tomato Ketchup. It has a shot of vodka and Bloody Mary spices in it, for a real ‘morning-after-the-night-before‘ brunch!

Finally, on a lighter, but no less nourishing note:Smoked Salmon Brunch Bagel.
