A far cry from the later Full English Breakfast, which includes bacon, fried egg, sausage, mushrooms, baked beans, fried bread, grilled tomatoes, and accompanied with tea or coffee.
Red or Brown Sauces with that?
That would be, the 200g of Mediterranean tomatoes crammed into every 100g of rich, thick, award-winning Real Tomato Ketchup; or the rich date purée, black treacle and unique blend of Persian spices in our ‘grown-up’ Real Brown Sauce.
Classically French – the Croque Madame. Madame, including the egg; Croque Monsieur is served without the egg.

Napoleon Bonaparte’s Breakfast at Fontainebleu consisted of boiled or poached eggs, chicken dressed with oil and onions, and lentils or beans. He finished his repast with a strong cup of coffee.
Probably needed it after that lot!
Light & Healthy – Scrambled eggs over smashed avocado with a little Chilli Jam, or Red Onion Marmalade on toasted ciabatta … so unlike Winston’s.
Sir Winston Churchill’s Breakfast: Certainly NOT Light & Healthy – his breakfast would be consumed in bed, consisting of sausages and bacon, eggs and toast, orange juice and coffee.
He’d also often have a whiskey soda or glass of hock.
