Shift Engineer - Monday - Friday (Rotating Shifts)

At Stokes Sauces, we create sauces for food lovers who care about quality – taste without compromise. We are looking for a Shift Engineer to be at the heart of our production, solving mechanical and electrical challenges, supporting improvements, and contributing to continuous improvements.

In this hands-on role, you’ll carry out electrical and mechanical fault-finding, minimise downtime, and support planned preventative maintenance across our operation. Working closely with the Lead Engineer and production teams, you’ll also assist with continuous improvement projects and the installation of new machinery and equipment.

The role involves working across both of our nearby sites, giving variety to your day while being part of a supportive, close-knit engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily inspection of plant & equipment; liaise with production teams
  • Electrical and mechanical fault-finding and repair
  • Assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Support installation of new machinery
  • Maintain stock, spare parts, and workshop tools
  • Ensure all work follows health & safety, quality, and food safety standards
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives

About You – What we are looking for

  • You have an electrical qualification or apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3+) and strong electrical and mechanical skills, including PLC knowledge
  • You bring manufacturing engineering experience, ideally in food production (but not essential)
  • You’re a problem-solver, proactive, reliable, and take pride in doing things safely and to a high standard
  • You enjoy working as part of a team, but can also manage tasks independently
  • You’re flexible, adaptable, and ready to move between our two nearby sites to support production where it’s needed

What We Offer

  • Salary: circa £42,000 per annum

Quality Assurance Technician - Monday - Friday (Rotating Shifts)

At Stokes Sauces, we produce sauces for food lovers – taste without compromise. We pride ourselves on getting things right first time, and this role will be key to ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and legality – from raw materials through to finished goods. We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our Technical team.

What you will be doing:

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you’ll be the go-to person on shift for quality and process-related matters. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting quality, safety, legality, and product integrity across the factory and warehouse.
  • Monitoring compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensuring policies and procedures are understood and followed.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for product, process, and QA equipment queries.
  • Managing held stock – from administration and labelling, to inspection, communication, and release.
  • Carrying out product testing, inspections, audits, and sampling in line with schedules.
  • Supporting the investigation of non-conformances, identifying corrective actions, and implementing preventive measures.
  • Maintaining accurate QA documentation and ensuring compliance with internal audit and inspection programmes.
  • Conducting raw material intake checks, reference sample management, and organoleptic (taste panel) assessments.
  • Carrying out equipment calibration and verification checks.
  • Deputising for the Quality Assurance Manager when required.

About you:

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a keen eye for detail and takes pride in delivering work accurately and consistently.
  • Can communicate effectively and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Has experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, or a similar technical role (desirable but not essential – training can be provided).
  • Is organised, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understands the importance of food safety, health & safety, and compliance.

Since 2004, we have worked with a rare passion, to refine the taste, texture, and quality of ketchups, sauces, condiments, preserves, and mayonnaise. We make all our of sauces at our ‘saucery’ on the Rendlesham Estate the heart of rural Suffolk. We now have a team of over 90, and In fact, some of us have been making sauce together for almost 20 years! There really has never been a more exciting team to join the ambitious Stokes team, with brand new factory equipment, enabling is to double our capacity, exciting new upcoming product launches and we are actively working in more sectors than ever before!
