February may be short on days but it’s long on traditions and myths
Short because, according to legend, July was named after Julius Caesar and hence it had 31 days. Later, when Augustus Caesar took over the Roman Empire, he wanted August, the month named after him, to have 31 days as well. The two extra days were taken from February, which was then left with 28 days. Sounds like little man syndrome!
But this year is different - this February ends on the 29th making it a Leap Year - so go girls – why not pop the question to your man?
Did you know that in some places if a man refuses a marriage proposal from a woman on a Leap Year he has to buy her 12 pairs of gloves? The intention is that the woman can wear the gloves to hide the embarrassment of not having an engagement ring.
Forget the gloves - if he says no, console yourself that we still love you and we’ll give you 10% off any internet order you place on 29th February! Use the code “StokesLovesYou”.
